About Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel
Louis P. and R. Lorraine Mercadante founded the funeral home in 1961 at 370 Plantation Street. Their son, Kevin Mercadante, a retired Major in the Massachusetts Army National Guard, has led it since 1979, and his daughter Michelle Elworthy, licensed since 2009, is the third generation. Funeral director Stephen Gemelli has been with them since 1987. The family serves the whole community no matter what a family can afford, and hosts holiday remembrance services every year.
